Privacy Policy

Effective October 25, 2026

The short version

1. Who we are

Solar Vengeance Redux (the "Game") is run by Cosmic Ventures LLC ("we", "us"), a company in Oregon, United States, which is responsible for the information described here (the "controller", in the words of data protection law). This policy explains what we collect when you play, why, and the choices you have. You can reach us at support@cosmic-ventures-llc.com.

2. What we collect

WhatDetailsWhere it comes from
AccountUsername, display name, password (stored only as a secure hash), the date you joined, your role (player, moderator, admin), and an email address if you choose to give one. You, when you sign up or change your settings
Two-step sign-inIf you turn it on: the secret your authenticator app uses, and hashed one-time recovery codes. You
Profile and looksPortrait, empire colour, favourite ship types, banner, title, achievement showcase, privacy settings. You
Game progressSaved copies of your settings, scenarios and Brains you made, achievements, single-player career totals, experience points and level, kept so they follow you between devices. The Game on your device
Online playResults of online games (scenario, players, who won, length, ship and system counts), replays of those games (every order given, and the chat sent during the game), ratings and rankings, friends and friend requests, and when you were last online. Our servers, from the games you play
Daily MapYour best win of each day's Daily Map (how many impulses it took, and when). To check a win, our server plays the game again from the orders you send; it keeps only the result. The Game on your device, checked by our servers
CommunityScenarios and Brains you publish, ratings, comments, bookmarks, and reports you file. You
ChatChat sent during an online game is part of that game: it is kept in the game's replay for as long as the replay is kept (see How long we keep it), and anyone who can watch the replay can read it. Chat in a room before the game starts, and quick messages to your allies, are passed to the players they're for and not stored. You
InboxNotes for you about what happened to your account while you were away: replies from the team, friend requests and invites, rating changes, comments and ratings on what you shared, moderation actions and supporter dates, and whether you have read them. Our servers, from those events
Support and moderationMessages you send to the team and our replies; screenshots you attach to a ticket, which are kept with the ticket and seen only by you and our moderators; reports about you or your content; moderation actions taken on your account, with their reasons and which moderator took them (or that the word filter muted you automatically); whether a word-filter scan flagged your name or something you posted for a moderator to look at.You, other players, our moderators, the word filter
Supporter purchasesYour plan, its dates, and the customer number Stripe gives us. Stripe handles your payment details; we never see your card number. You, through Stripe
TechnicalYour IP address and browser details reach our servers with every request, as with any website. We use your IP address briefly to protect against abuse (for example, too many sign-in attempts), and to count a guest's play of a Community item once a day we keep a scrambled code made from it, not the address itself.Your browser
Closed betaWhile the Game is in closed beta: the invite code your account was made with, and when you became a beta tester. If you ask for an invite: the name, email address (optional) and message you send, not linked to any account. You
Error reportsWhen the Game hits an error, it sends a technical report (the error message, where in the Game it happened, and the browser type) without your name or account. It is used only to fix bugs and kept up to 90 days. The Game on your device

We don't collect your real name, address, phone number, location, contacts or anything from other apps. Please don't put personal information in names, profiles, comments or what you share.

3. How we use it

We don't use your information for advertising or profiling, and we don't make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. Ratings and moderation flags are about play in the Game.

4. What other players see

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with:

6. Cookies and storage on your device

You can clear all of it at any time in your browser's settings (site data for this site). You'll be signed out, and anything not synced to an account will be lost.

7. How long we keep it

See Your Data for exactly what deleting your account removes.

8. Security

The Game uses HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted, slow hashes; sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes; two-step sign-in is available to everyone and required for staff. Code that players share runs in a sandbox. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password and turn on two-step sign-in. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.

9. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can:

If you're in the EU, the UK or a similar place, you also have the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and to complain to your data protection authority. If you're in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the rights to know, delete and correct, and not to be discriminated against for using them; we don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it. We'll answer requests within the time the law sets, and may need to confirm it's really you first.

10. Children

The Game can be played without an account, and then nothing personal reaches us. Accounts are for people aged 13 or over (or the higher age your country sets for agreeing to online services). We don't knowingly keep personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has made an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. Where your information is processed

Cosmic Ventures is based in the United States, and our servers and providers may process your information in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

12. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when the Game or the law changes, and change the date at the top. For important changes, we'll tell you in the Game before they apply.

13. Contact

For anything about your information, email support@cosmic-ventures-llc.com, or open the account menu in the Game and choose Contact the team. Moderators read in-game messages; questions about personal data are passed to Cosmic Ventures.
